At the 2023 Indo-Pacific International Maritime Exhibition, Australian Optronic Systems demonstrated its newly developed anti-drone soft-kill solution for the first time.
The solution is a laser weapon named "Dazzler", integrated with the R800 Remote Weapon Station (RWS), using a 500-watt continuous wave laser with an effective range of 2,000 meters. Unlike the "Slinger"'s hard-kill system, the "Dazzler" targets the UAV's electro-optical guidance system and is therefore considered a "soft-kill" system. At present, the research and development of "Dazzler" has been carried out for about 8 months, and the technology maturity level (TRL) has reached level 6.
